Introduction
I have been a wantrepreneur since childhood. Growing up I was always looking for some way to make money so that I could buy a hampster, bag of weed, unicycle, anything I couldnt justify saving my own money up for. I have tried all types of businesses from watering neighbors plants, pet sitting, house sitting, uber driving, pulling weed, drop shipping makeup brushes and even door to door tech support in retirement communities and most recently, SaaS. I always tell my wife I found a new scam to try and she reminds me that is indeed a legitimate business, not a scam. I have since started reffering to them as grifts.
Like every other developer thats crossed my path, I struggle with choosing a stack and always want to chase the new shiny object. Worse than shiny object syndrome is the incessant need to roll my own everything, which I quickly learned does not bode well when you’re trying to run a business. Django Running SaaS apps is mostly am excersize in businesses rather than software. You find an under served niche, make an MVP, grind to get some customers and then bug the ever living shit out of em for feedback, iterate and repeat. The iterate and repeat is where Django really rocks.
Why Django?
If your goal is to test ideas quickly you need to minimize turn around time. Django is amazing at this. If we are being real, Django can do 90% of your project without writing a single line of code. They take “Batterys Included” very seriously.
